Health & Wellness Assembly!

Health and Wellness Assembly is a Celebration and showcase of how ASEP's kids are making healthy lifestyle choices. This is done through eating healthy, being physically active and working together. As well as spreading the word that by making healthy life choices you will feel better, do better in school, feel good about yourself and to have a good time while you’re at it.

Snack Squad's Milk Taste!

Snack Squad was put to the test to see if they could guess what type of milk they were drinking.

But before testing Snack Squad had to fill out a sheet together to learn how to read milk labels. They had to figure out what milk had the most sugar or which milk had the most vitamins.

They also had to determine if the serving size was the amount they used. Was it too much milk or just enough or not enough?

Now it was time for the tasting!

Snack Squad trying to determine what milk it was ( it was organic soy milk!)

At the end they wrote down a number to each milk they tested & got almost all of them right! Great job Snack Squad!

Snack Squad learns how to make homemade ranch dressing!!

Snack Squad is rewarded to a trip to Courtney's!

Snack Squad students were given a challenge to select food from Courtney's to enjoy, but in order to keep it, they had to describe why the snack they chose at Courtney's was healthy and identify what food group it belongs to.

Snack Squad students have earned these points by being on time, preparing snack, filling out snack sheets and showing it to their parents, but overall being great listeners and participants.

1 million lights visit/ Strawberry parfait

Snack squad had a special
guest named Laura Chao who is the program manager from an organization called 1 million lights. She taught snack squad the differnces between a traditional incandesceent light and a LED light.

One main differnce was how much energy one bulb used vs the other.

One main differnce was how much heat one light bulb gives out. More heat=more energy used. This photo on the right shows a traditional incandescent light which gave a bright light but also a lot of heat.

This photo on the right shows a LED bulb which also gave a bright light but no heat. Which meant it saved more energy.

Snack Squad then joined Chef Shiloh in leaning how to make strawberry parfaits. Only using 3 things strawberries, vanilla yogurt and giner snapes.
